The province of Lecce (known as Salento for hystorical reasons) is approximately constituted by 2800 Km2 in the extreme south-east part of the italian peninsula.
This area is enclosed within two particular geographic locations, Punta Palascìa (close to Otranto, at 18°31'22 longitude East) e Punta Ristola (close to the Capo di S. Maria di Leuca at 39°47'18 latitude North).
Salento in the whole is one of the five areas which form the italian region known as Puglia. |
